Effectiveness
With such a great reputation, we are often asked if it actually works. Do you have any evidence. These are great questions that delve into our passion for accurate data collection and analysis. In short, SAFE{teen} works!
Healthy Visions’ programs are evidence based. The SAFE{teen} program has been statistically validated by Applied Data Research of Miami University and proven to positively change students’ attitudes on high risk behaviors including premarital sex, bullying, cyber bullying, sexting, cyber stalking, and harassment.
Healthy Visions overs statistical evidence, anecdotal evidence, and community evidence to support the effectiveness of the SAFE{teen} program. For example, from a community perspective SAFE{teen} has been instrumental in reducing teen births. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital reports 175 teen births ages 12 to 16, the lowest number of teen births since they began tracking the figures in 1988.
Using pre and post survey data, Healthy Visions will report a statistically significant increase from pre and post tests on several important behaviors and attitudes:
-Show an increase in the number of students planning to avoid premarital sex.
-Show an increase in the number of students recognizing they are in an unhealthy relationships and potentially in a dating violence situation.
-Show an increase in the number of students leaving an unhealthy relationship.
-Show an increase in the number of students aware of the dangers of online and cell phone communication.
-Show a decrease in bullying, cyber bullying, sexting, and other digital misconducts.
Healthy Visions is excited to use industry leading technology in the collection and analysis of data. We utilize the latest in Optical Mark Recognition software from Gravic, Inc. to ensure the accuracy and quality of our pre and post surveys. This data is important to us as it shows us the positive impact SAFE{teen} has on our youth.
